Ethical Purpose

DeshiAI publishes information, analysis and argument with the aim of respecting truth, human dignity, reader autonomy and legitimate public interest. Ethical publishing is not limited to whether an article is legally permissible or whether individual sentences are technically accurate. A publication can create a misleading impression through an exaggerated headline, unrelated image, selective quotation, incomplete context, distorted data, unsupported AI-generated material or unnecessary disclosure of private information. DeshiAI therefore considers the overall effect of an article, including its sources, wording, structure, classification, visual presentation, metadata, social promotion and reasonably foreseeable consequences.

Core Principles

Accuracy requires material claims to be supported by dependable evidence and expressed in proportion to the certainty available. Independence requires editorial judgment to remain free from undisclosed commercial, political, personal or professional influence. Fairness requires people and organizations to be represented accurately and given a meaningful opportunity to respond to serious criticism where appropriate. Transparency requires clear authorship, classification, relevant sourcing, material disclosures and corrections. Human dignity requires avoiding unnecessary humiliation, dehumanization, stereotyping and exposure of vulnerable people. Proportionality requires identification, intrusion and potentially harmful detail to be justified by genuine public value. Originality requires DeshiAI to contribute reporting, explanation or analysis rather than present copied, derivative or automated material as original work. Accountability requires credible challenges to be considered and material failures to be corrected or explained.

Truth, Accuracy and Misleading Impressions

Authors and editors must not knowingly publish fabricated or materially misleading information. Prohibited conduct includes inventing sources, quotations, events, documents or statistics; altering quotations in a way that changes their meaning; presenting rumors as confirmed information; describing an allegation as an established finding; using unrelated imagery to imply a false connection; or removing decisive context. It also includes presenting an AI prediction as an established outcome, using misleading statistics or percentages, relying on fabricated citations, copying another publication’s reporting without proper attribution or changing an old publication date solely to create an impression of fresh reporting.

Accuracy also requires attention to implication. A statement can be literally correct yet ethically misleading if the surrounding presentation encourages readers to reach a materially false conclusion. Headlines, captions, excerpts, search descriptions, thumbnails and social previews are therefore considered separately rather than assumed to be accurate simply because the underlying article is accurate.

Fact, Allegation, Inference and Opinion

DeshiAI distinguishes established fact, reported allegation, official statement, witness account, estimate, expert assessment, editorial inference, prediction, analysis and opinion. These categories should not be presented as interchangeable. An inference can be appropriate when it is clearly identified and reasonably supported; the article should explain the evidence behind it and consider credible alternative explanations where relevant. Opinion permits judgment, criticism and argument but does not permit fabricated factual premises, invented evidence or deceptive attribution.

Fairness and Right of Reply

Fairness does not require an article to present every person or organization favorably. It requires material facts, responses and relevant context to be represented honestly. Where an article makes serious criticism or alleges significant wrongdoing, DeshiAI will normally seek comment from the affected person or organization before publication. The request should identify the substance of the criticism and provide a reasonable opportunity to respond. A response is quoted or summarized accurately and should not be edited in a manner that reverses its meaning or removes its central defense.

Failure to respond does not establish that an allegation is true. Where publication is genuinely urgent and prior contact is impracticable, the decision and reason should be recorded, and a later response may be considered for an update. Additional care is appropriate where the subject has limited power, limited media experience, language barriers, disability or another circumstance affecting their ability to respond.

Evidence Weight and False Balance

DeshiAI does not create artificial equivalence between positions that do not have comparable evidentiary support. The publication may report that a disputed, unsupported or false claim is being promoted, but it should provide enough context to prevent the claim from being mistaken for established fact. Scientific, technical, historical and factual questions are represented according to the quality and weight of available evidence rather than simply the number, popularity or influence of people supporting each position. A minority view may warrant examination when it is credible, consequential or exposes genuine uncertainty, but its evidentiary status should be explained.

Public Interest

Public interest may include exposing wrongdoing or abuse of power, protecting public safety, explaining significant uses of technology or public resources, examining corporate or institutional conduct, documenting threats to rights or democratic participation, correcting public deception, explaining the consequences of AI systems or technology policy, protecting vulnerable communities or preserving an important public record. Public interest is not the same as public curiosity. Online availability, celebrity, controversy or virality does not eliminate privacy interests, and editors should consider whether the same public purpose can be achieved with less intrusive information.

Privacy and Intrusion

DeshiAI weighs privacy against public value, relevance, consent, vulnerability and foreseeable harm. Particular care applies to private addresses, precise real-time locations, medical or psychological information, financial account details, intimate relationships, sexual material, children, victims and survivors, people experiencing grief or trauma, identity documents, unrelated family members, private communications, confidential-source information and information that could facilitate harassment, fraud or physical harm.

Public figures may have a reduced expectation of privacy concerning conduct directly relevant to their public responsibilities, but they do not lose all privacy. A private individual should not be identified merely to make an article more vivid when identification adds little public value and creates substantial or disproportionate harm.

Children and Young People

Children receive heightened protection because they may not fully understand the long-term consequences of publication or digital permanence. DeshiAI considers age and maturity, meaningful consent, guardian involvement, safety, permanence of online publication, future educational or employment consequences, identification through combined details, effects on siblings and family and whether anonymization is sufficient. Parental consent does not automatically make publication ethical. The child’s own interests remain important, and children should not be used as instruments in an adult political, commercial, legal or personal dispute.

Victims, Trauma and Grief

People affected by violence, accidents, disasters, abuse, displacement or bereavement should be approached with care. DeshiAI does not pressure people to speak, treat silence as suspicious or publish distressing details simply for emotional impact. Consent given during extreme distress may require later confirmation where practical. Graphic images and descriptions are used only where they contribute necessary understanding, with appropriate warnings or limitations when warranted. Coverage should avoid language that blames victims or reduces a person to the circumstances of their injury, death or suffering.

Discrimination and Identity

DeshiAI does not publish dehumanizing or discriminatory material based on race, ethnicity, nationality, caste, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or another protected characteristic. Identity is included when materially relevant rather than as decoration or stereotype. Writers distinguish self-identification, legal classification, third-party description, cultural affiliation, nationality, ethnicity, citizenship and residence. Slurs may be quoted when necessary to document an event or analyze language, but they should not be repeated gratuitously. Collective blame is not assigned to an entire population because of the conduct of an individual, company, organization or government.

Crime, Allegations and Legal Proceedings

A person should not be described as guilty before guilt has been established through the applicable legal process. Articles distinguish arrest, accusation, charge, prosecution, conviction, appeal, acquittal, civil liability, regulatory finding and unresolved allegation. Legal terminology varies between jurisdictions, and writers should avoid applying one jurisdiction’s terminology to another without explanation. Headlines must not imply more than the known evidence establishes. Where charges are withdrawn, a person is acquitted or a decision is overturned, DeshiAI considers whether earlier coverage requires an update or clarification.

Health, Science, Finance and Safety

Health and scientific reporting should reflect the quality, scale and limitations of the evidence, including study design, sample size, funding, methodological limitations, correlation and causation, replication and relevant scientific consensus. Preliminary research should not be presented as an established treatment or certainty. Technology and AI reporting should distinguish demonstrations, benchmarks, company claims, independent testing, research findings and real-world performance.

Financial coverage distinguishes verified facts from forecasts, company statements from independent assessments, historical performance from future expectations, revenue from profit, valuation from cash position and general information from individualized financial advice. Authors and editors disclose material investments, employment, compensation and client relationships. DeshiAI does not knowingly publish deceptive investment schemes, guaranteed-return claims or undisclosed financial promotion.

Images, Audio, Video and Synthetic Media

Visual, audio and video material should be relevant, accurately described and obtained or used ethically. DeshiAI does not use an unrelated person’s image to illustrate alleged wrongdoing, edit or crop material in a way that creates a materially false impression, present a staged image as documentary evidence, manipulate audio deceptively or use graphic material merely to attract attention. Captions should explain what material depicts and, where relevant, when and where it was created and whether it is illustrative, archival, supplied or synthetic.

Synthetic media is identified when a reasonable reader could otherwise mistake it for authentic documentary material. DeshiAI does not create or publish deceptive synthetic depictions falsely showing a real person committing a crime, making a statement, participating in an event, endorsing a product, suffering harm or engaging in intimate or degrading conduct.

Deception, Confidentiality and Plagiarism

Deception, concealed identity, covert recording or undercover methods are considered only when the information is of substantial public importance, less intrusive methods are unlikely to obtain it, the method is proportionate, foreseeable harm has been considered and appropriate approval is obtained. DeshiAI does not promise absolute source confidentiality where it cannot technically or legally guarantee it. Confidentiality decisions consider risk, public value, basis of knowledge, motivation, corroboration, security and potential legal exposure.

Plagiarism includes copying language, structure, reporting, ideas, data or creative work in a way that falsely represents another person’s contribution as original. Attribution remains necessary even where material has been substantially rewritten. A link alone may not be sufficient when another publication’s original reporting is central to the article.

Corrections and Conduct

When a material error is confirmed, DeshiAI corrects the article, explains the error where appropriate, preserves the original publication date, records substantive changes, corrects related headlines or social posts where practicable and considers whether a process failure contributed. A serious ethical failure may require retraction, apology, disclosure, reassignment or termination of a contributor relationship.

Editorial standards also apply to internal conduct. DeshiAI does not tolerate harassment, discrimination, retaliation, coercion, plagiarism of contributor work, deliberate misrepresentation of an author’s position or pressure to conceal a material conflict. Contributors should receive clear information about the proposed format, expected scope, review process, payment where applicable, rights, disclosure requirements and post-publication responsibilities.
