Corrections and Updates Policy
Commitment to the Published Record
DesiAI is committed to maintaining an accurate, reliable and transparent published record. When a material error is identified in content published by DesiAI, we aim to correct it promptly, clearly and in proportion to its significance. A transparent correction is an essential part of responsible publishing and is intended to preserve reader trust.
This policy distinguishes between routine copyediting, factual correction, clarification, substantive update, editor’s note, right-of-reply addition, reclassification, retraction, removal and archival treatment. The appropriate action depends on the nature of the error, its potential impact, how widely the information was distributed and whether the article’s principal conclusion remains supported.
Scope
This policy applies to articles, headlines, standfirsts, captions, images, video, audio, newsletters, social media posts, author profiles, policy pages, data graphics, structured data, commercial material, Sponsored Content, Partner Content, Press Releases and other material published under the DesiAI name. Where an error materially appears in more than one part of our publication, the relevant versions and formats will be reviewed and corrected where appropriate.
Submitting a Correction Request
Correction requests may be sent to corrections@deshiai.in. A useful request should identify the article title, permanent URL, exact statement or material in question, explanation of the alleged error, proposed correct information, supporting documents or reliable sources, the requester’s relationship to the matter where relevant and appropriate contact information. Requesters should avoid sending unnecessary identity documents, confidential records or sensitive personal information unless DesiAI confirms that such material is genuinely required for review.
A disagreement with editorial judgment, analysis or opinion does not by itself establish a factual error. DesiAI will nevertheless consider whether the factual basis, classification, disclosure or presentation of the content creates a materially misleading impression.
Acknowledgement and Review
DesiAI aims to acknowledge a specific correction request within two business days. More complex matters may require additional time, particularly where they involve legal proceedings, multiple jurisdictions, confidential sources, technical evidence, disputed identity, data analysis, translation, privacy, security, historical records or multiple affected parties. An acknowledgement confirms receipt of a request and does not mean that the request has been accepted or upheld.
The review may consider the published wording, source material, original documents, recordings, author notes, correspondence, calculations, image files, metadata, article classification, disclosures, legal status, subsequent developments and responses from the author or affected parties.
Correction Standard
A correction is generally required when published material contains a factual error or creates a materially false implication. DesiAI considers whether a statement is inaccurate, whether an important fact was omitted, whether wording creates a misleading impression, whether a headline goes beyond what the article supports, whether a quotation is inaccurate, whether a person has been misidentified, whether a number, date, location or legal status is incorrect, whether commercial involvement was inadequately disclosed, whether synthetic or AI-generated material was insufficiently identified, whether an update date is misleading or whether the error affects the article’s central conclusion.
DesiAI remains responsible for the version of information it publishes even when the original error originated with a source, document or third party.
Minor Copyediting
Minor corrections may be made without a public correction note where they do not materially change the meaning of the published content. These may include spelling, punctuation, grammar, typographical mistakes, formatting, broken links, heading structure, alternative-text improvements, spacing and non-material consistency in style. The original publication date normally remains unchanged.
A change that initially appears minor may become material when it affects identity, meaning, liability, chronology, scale, attribution, disclosure or how a reasonable reader would understand the content.
Material Factual Corrections
A material correction will normally include a visible note explaining what was incorrect, what information is correct, when the correction was made and, where relevant, whether the article’s central conclusion changed. DesiAI does not use vague language such as “the article has been updated” when the underlying change is specifically a factual correction.
A correction note may begin with “Correction,” followed by the date, a concise explanation of the original error, the accurate information, confirmation that the article has been amended and an indication of whether the central conclusion was affected. The note remains attached to the article as part of the public record.
Headline, Identity and Numerical Corrections
Headline errors receive particular attention because readers may encounter or share a headline without reading the full article. DesiAI will correct an inaccurate headline, add a visible note where appropriate, review relevant metadata and correct social or distribution text where practicable. Where necessary, the correction will identify what was wrong with the original headline.
Errors involving identity are treated with urgency. If DesiAI identifies the wrong person, uses an incorrect image, confuses individuals with similar names, misstated someone’s role or attributes conduct to an uninvolved person, the relevant article, media, metadata and distribution channels will be reviewed and corrected as necessary. Numerical corrections will explain the accurate figure and the nature of the mistake, including issues such as incorrect currency, percentage versus percentage-point errors, incorrect denominators, revenue described as profit, downloads described as active users or estimates presented as audited figures.
Clarifications
A clarification may be used when the original wording was not technically false but was materially ambiguous, incomplete or reasonably likely to create misunderstanding. A clarification explains what has been made clearer and indicates whether the underlying factual account and conclusion remain unchanged. DesiAI will not use a clarification merely to avoid acknowledging a genuine factual error.
Substantive Updates
A substantive update adds significant information that became available after publication. Examples may include an official decision, subsequent response, revised dataset, court judgment, election result, product change, scientific development, regulatory action or newly available document. An update note identifies the material that was added and normally preserves the original publication date. A substantive update does not necessarily mean the original article was incorrect.
An updated date may be displayed when a change materially improves, expands or alters the article. Routine copyediting, formatting changes, accessibility improvements and ordinary link maintenance do not normally justify changing the publication date.
Editor’s Notes
An editor’s note may be used to explain a broader or significant issue affecting the published record. This may include a substantial omission, serious dispute, newly disclosed conflict, change in classification, legal development, source credibility concern, internal review, major restructuring or another unresolved matter that readers should understand.
The note will provide relevant context without suggesting that an issue has been resolved when it has not.
Rights of Reply
A response received after publication may be added when it provides material facts, meaningful context or a direct response to criticism or allegations contained in the published material. Where appropriate, the article will identify when the response was received, what information was added, whether it affects the article’s conclusion and whether a separate factual correction was also required.
A response will not be described as a correction unless DesiAI determines that the original published information was inaccurate.
Commercial and AI-Related Corrections
A failure to disclose a material commercial relationship may require a prominent disclosure, reclassification, headline or label change, correction note, removal of misleading independence claims, structured-data updates, link review or, where warranted, retraction. A concealed payment, sponsorship or client relationship may be more than an administrative issue when it materially affects the credibility or presentation of the content.
Content may also require correction when an automated or AI-assisted system produces a false claim, fabricated citation, significant mistranslation, inadequately disclosed synthetic image, inaccurate automated analysis or fictitious author identity. Where relevant, the correction will explain the role of automation or AI in the error without overstating what is known about how the error occurred.
Date and Metadata Corrections
Publication and update dates should accurately reflect the history of an article. DesiAI may correct duplicate dates, incorrect dates, time-zone errors, template-imported dates, update dates created by minor editing, older articles incorrectly presented as new and structured-data dates that conflict with the visible page.
Correcting metadata or dates is intended to improve the accuracy of the public record and does not erase the article’s prior publication history.
Social, Newsletter and External Distribution
When a material error has also been distributed through social media, email, syndication or another channel, DesiAI will consider whether a correction should be made through the same or relevant distribution channel. This may include a corrected post, a reply to the original post, deletion and republication, a newsletter correction, an updated preview card or direct notification to affected recipients.
Simply deleting an item may not be sufficient where an inaccurate claim has already circulated widely.
Retraction
Retraction may be appropriate when an ordinary correction cannot reasonably restore confidence in the reliability of the article. Circumstances may include central claims that cannot be substantiated, fabrication, material plagiarism, manipulated evidence, false author identity, undisclosed commercial control affecting the article as a whole, serious rights violations, an unreliable reporting foundation or cumulative errors that make the article fundamentally misleading.
A retraction notice will normally state the date and specific reason, explain that the article has been withdrawn and preserve the original URL where practical for transparency. A retraction should provide enough information for readers to understand why the article is no longer considered reliable.
Removal
Complete removal may be necessary when continued publication creates serious harm that cannot reasonably be addressed through correction or retraction. Possible circumstances include a court order, unlawful personal data, non-consensual intimate material, exposed passwords or private keys, source-identifying information, an immediate security risk, child-safety concerns, mistaken identity causing continuing harm, copyright infringement or another compelling legal or ethical reason.
Where practicable, the URL or replacement page will indicate that the content was removed and provide a general explanation without reproducing the harmful or sensitive information.
Search and De-Indexing Requests
DesiAI does not remove accurate public-interest reporting simply because it is inconvenient, old, commercially undesirable or discoverable through search engines. Requests involving rehabilitation, spent convictions, changed circumstances, private individuals, minor historical matters or disproportionate continuing harm may be assessed individually.
Possible responses may include a factual update, contextual note, anonymization, reduction of unnecessary personal details, technical de-indexing, modification of search-preview information, refusal or removal where legally or ethically required.
The assessment may consider accuracy, present relevance, public interest, the individual’s role, severity, passage of time, rehabilitation, privacy, safety, legal obligations and the integrity of the historical record.
Archive Corrections
Testing-period and historical content is not automatically exempt from correction. If an article was publicly accessible, a material error may be handled under this policy even if DesiAI was still developing its formal editorial systems at the time.
An archive review may result in an article being retained, corrected, rebuilt, merged, restricted from indexing or removed. Material errors identified during such reviews will be recorded publicly where appropriate.
Corrections Log
Material corrections, clarifications, editor’s notes, substantive updates, reclassifications and retractions may be recorded in a Public Corrections Log. Routine copyediting is not normally recorded.
Where a correction is logged, the record may identify the date, article, action type, issue, remedy, effect on the conclusion and link to the corrected article. The log will not unnecessarily reproduce private, defamatory, graphic or security-sensitive information.
Disputes and Appeals
Where reliable sources disagree, DesiAI will not automatically adopt one party’s preferred wording. Depending on the evidence, the publication may retain the existing wording, clarify the disagreement, add attribution, present relevant competing evidence, revise the level of certainty, seek expert review or continue its investigation.
Correction decisions are based on available evidence rather than pressure, prominence or the status of the person making the request.
A requester who disagrees with a decision may use the Editorial Complaints Procedure. An appeal should identify an error in the review, new evidence, material that was overlooked, an incorrect application of this policy or a remedy that appears disproportionate. Repetition of the same assertion without new grounds may be closed after a reasoned response.
No Retaliation and Internal Learning
DesiAI does not regard a good-faith correction request as an act of hostility. The tone used by a requester does not determine whether the underlying factual concern is valid. Abusive or threatening communications may be restricted, but specific and credible factual concerns will be assessed where reasonably possible.
A correction may reveal a broader process issue involving sourcing, editing, identity, commercial disclosure, translation, data, images, headlines, structured data or post-publication monitoring. Significant or recurring failures should lead to improvements in editorial processes rather than simply changes to an individual page.
