Newsroom Standards
Application
DeshiAI applies a common standards framework to material published under its name, including original reporting, commissioned articles, guest contributions, opinion, interviews, investigations, reviews, explainers, multimedia, Sponsored Content, Partner Content, Press Releases, newsletters, social publication and material assisted by automated or AI-based tools. The depth of review varies according to the format, subject and level of risk, but no publishing format is exempt from responsibility for authorship, accuracy, originality, rights, disclosure and reader safety.
Editorial Purpose and Commissioning
Every article should have a defined editorial purpose before substantial work begins. The commissioning decision considers the central question, intended audience, proposed format, expected evidence, specialist knowledge required, public value, foreseeable conflicts, affected parties, legal and privacy considerations, expected disclosures and appropriate level of review. A company request, product launch, AI model release, trending keyword or search query is not by itself an adequate editorial purpose.
Published work should contribute original reporting, verified information, useful context, understandable explanation, independent analysis, relevant comparison, documented experience, public-interest information or reasoned argument. Acceptance of a proposal does not guarantee publication. DeshiAI may stop or decline work when evidence is inadequate, conflicts arise, rights cannot be established, identity has been misrepresented or the proposed article no longer meets editorial requirements.
Content Classification
News reports a recent and verifiable development and separates confirmed information from claims, predictions and analysis. Analysis examines evidence, implications, incentives, technical or commercial consequences and competing explanations. Explainers help readers understand a technology, AI system, product, law, policy, event, research finding or controversy. Investigations contain substantial original reporting or independently developed evidence. Interviews present a participant’s knowledge, experience or views and disclose material editing, translation or compression where relevant. Opinion expresses an identified author’s perspective while factual premises remain subject to verification. Reviews assess products, software, AI tools, services, books, research, experiences or policies according to disclosed criteria. Sponsored Content is paid commercial material, Partner Content is produced through a disclosed relationship, and a Press Release is external organizational communication.
The visible classification should correspond with the production process, disclosures and structured information. DeshiAI does not use the Investigation label merely because an article is lengthy or critical, and it does not use Analysis to make promotional material appear independent.
Authorship
Every article identifies its actual author or authors. DeshiAI does not routinely use an administrative username as a public byline. An institutional byline may be appropriate for genuine collaborative reporting, routine publication notices, corrections, policy updates or work where assigning a single author would be misleading. It must not be used to conceal a sponsor, client, agency, ghostwriter, conflicted contributor, synthetic author or person unwilling to accept responsibility for the work.
Author profiles contain accurate current information and relevant experience without inflated qualifications. Where protecting an author’s identity is necessary for safety, the responsible editor verifies the person’s real identity and approves the public treatment under the applicable policy.
Reporting and Evidence
Reporting seeks the most direct, relevant and reliable evidence reasonably available. Authors preserve source documents and notes, record interviews where lawful and appropriate, distinguish firsthand knowledge from hearsay, verify names, dates, organizations, product versions and technical claims, seek primary sources, identify interested-party material, examine contradictory evidence, contact materially criticized parties, document important calculations and state meaningful uncertainty.
A source’s confidence is not a substitute for evidence. Multiple websites repeating the same AI or technology claim do not establish independent confirmation if they all rely on one original announcement or report. Documents are assessed for authenticity, date, origin, completeness, context, manipulation, privacy and source interests. Data and benchmarks are examined for source, methodology, sample, denominator, missing information, testing period, geography, definitions, revisions, funding, conflicts and limitations on what can reasonably be inferred.
Interviews and Quotations
Interview participants are informed about intended use and recording arrangements where appropriate. Terms such as on the record, background, not for attribution, confidential and off the record are clarified rather than assumed to carry identical meanings in every setting. Material quotations are checked against the original record. Minor editing for clarity, length and grammar is acceptable only where meaning remains intact. Substantive rewriting is presented as paraphrase or confirmed with the speaker. Translated interviews should preserve meaning and relevant tone, with significant limitations disclosed where necessary.
Right of Reply
People and organizations facing serious criticism normally receive a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication. The request identifies the central claims, provides sufficient information to enable a useful response, avoids unnecessary disclosure of confidential sources, states a clear deadline and time zone and identifies the sender and publication. The deadline should reflect urgency, complexity and the subject’s reasonable ability to respond. A response is considered fairly but does not control the final article. Refusal or failure to respond is described neutrally and does not establish that an allegation is true.
Editing and Final Review
Editing involves more than correcting grammar or style. Editors examine factual support, source quality, reasoning, fairness, classification, conflicts, disclosures, legal considerations, privacy, copyright, tone, structure, headline, standfirst, images, captions, links, metadata, accessibility, dates, structured data and correction routes. The final rendered page is also reviewed because errors can be introduced during formatting, image selection, metadata entry, automated templates or content-management processes.
The headline, excerpt, social preview and notification text must be supported by the underlying article. They must not turn an allegation into fact, imply criminal conduct without adequate basis, exaggerate the performance of an AI system, overstate a benchmark, omit a material qualification, misidentify a person or product, misuse a quotation, create false urgency, claim exclusivity without evidence or conceal commercial status.
Images and Multimedia
Images and multimedia should have a clear editorial purpose and a lawful basis for use. Editors verify identity, source, rights, date, location, context, editing, synthetic modification, credit, caption and alternative text. An unrelated person must not be shown in connection with alleged misconduct in a way that creates a false association. Captions should not convert an uncertain claim into an established fact. Audio and video are reviewed for editing, translation, chronology, consent and accessibility.
Sources, Citations and Originality
Links should support the specific proposition for which they are provided. DeshiAI generally prefers original documents, official records, primary research, technical documentation, direct datasets, company filings, regulatory material, direct interviews and authoritative legal sources. A general homepage link does not replace the relevant document when that document is available. Research-intensive work should include a Sources and Methodology section where appropriate.
DeshiAI does not publish copied, lightly rewritten, spun or mechanically generated articles as original work. Review considers copied wording, repeated passages, internal duplication, near-identical articles, recycled introductions, uncredited reporting, templated conclusions, automated artifacts and unsupported claims reproduced from another source. Different articles may cover the same AI company, product or development when they contain genuinely distinct reporting, evidence, purpose or audience value.
Artificial Intelligence
AI-assisted work remains subject to full human editorial responsibility. Authors and editors verify factual claims, quotations, dates, names, organizations, citations, calculations, translations, summaries, technical specifications and legal references. AI-generated output is not treated as evidence merely because it appears plausible or cites sources. Material use of AI tools is disclosed according to the AI and Synthetic Media Policy where the use is editorially significant. DeshiAI does not publish fictitious authors, fabricate interviews, invent sources or produce automated bulk content merely to increase publishing volume or occupy search results.
Commercial Content Workflow
Commercial material enters through the designated commercial process. DeshiAI records the client or sponsor, ultimate commissioning party where relevant, format, payment arrangement, production responsibility, supplied material, approval rights, legal requirements, links, article label, disclosures and responsible approver. Commercial work remains subject to review for lawful claims, safety, intellectual-property rights, accurate attribution and reader deception.
Dates, Corrections and Retractions
Every article displays one clear original publication date. A substantive update date is added only when the article receives a material factual, explanatory, sourcing, disclosure or structural change. Minor copyediting, formatting, accessibility improvements and routine link maintenance do not justify resetting the publication date. Visible dates, structured data and sitemap information should remain consistent.
Material errors are corrected under the Corrections and Updates Policy. A correction note should explain what was incorrect, what is correct, when the change was made and whether the central conclusion was affected. Retraction may be necessary where central claims cannot be substantiated, fabrication occurred, plagiarism is material, the article creates an irreparable false impression, a concealed conflict fundamentally affected the reporting or the underlying record is unreliable. Removal may be required for safety, privacy, security, valid legal requirements, non-consensual material, exposed credentials or another compelling reason.
Post-Publication Monitoring and Records
High-risk articles have an assigned person responsible for monitoring responses, correction requests, legal notices, new evidence, source safety, security concerns and significant developments. Publication does not end the duty of care. DeshiAI retains records proportionate to operational need, which may include commissioning notes, contributor declarations, source evidence, fact-check records, right-of-reply correspondence, conflict decisions, commercial disclosures, AI-use disclosures, correction records and publication approvals. Confidential and personal information is access-controlled and retained only for as long as reasonably necessary.
High-Risk Review
Additional review applies to serious allegations, criminal conduct, private individuals, children, elections, national security, medical or financial claims, confidential sources, leaked datasets, cybersecurity matters, sensitive AI applications, sexual material, suicide, graphic violence, major commercial conflicts and urgent removal demands. High-risk review separately examines the headline, evidence chain, right of reply, privacy, public interest, legal position, technical accuracy and foreseeable harm.
